I was just shopping at an upscale clothier out in Brentwood… something with an antique nautical theme…I don’t know. All I do know is they sell the kind of finery that I require. Anyway, I presented my purchase which rang up to $44.79. I handed the clerk a gift card for $50. I asked if the change remained on the gift card. She responded that if it was under $5, she would give it to me in cash, but if it was over $5, it would remain on the card. She had no control over that. I said, “Oh well, it’s $5.21.” She gave me a sort of funny look and nodded at me.
A second later my receipt printed out and she inspected it. “It is $5.21,” she exclaimed, “exactly!”
