Good Charlotte Eats Ass
Wow! What a bizarre soldier-related charity: Ukes for Troops — an organization that sends ukuleles to soldiers stationed overseas. The story comes via Boing Boing who also links a ukulele blog, Ukulelia. Excellent!
I’m a bit of a ukulele player as you may know. Though my repertoire is very limited. My brother gave me a uke for Christmas two years ago and I promptly learned a bunch of Misfits and Ramones songs on it and then stopped learning. I re-learn “Mele Kelikimaka” at Christmas time and I’ve tried my hand at “Girl from Ipanema” but that tune is a bear with all the 7th chords or whatever. Besides, “Astro Zombies” is just more appropriate for the instrument.
Oh, and if you’re wondering about the title to this post, that’s the mnemonic device I use to remember what notes to tune the strings to — GCEA.
