2011: The Films I Saw

In 2011, I saw these films which were released in 2011 or which I saw for the first time in 2011 or something:

  • X-Men: First Class Loved it.
  • Thor Meh. Reminded me of the Rainbow Racetrack in Super Mario Kart.
  • Transformers: Dark of the Moon Saw this on July 4th in lieu of fireworks and idiots. Of course it was nothing but fireworks and idiots.
  • Captain America Loved it. Great spontaneous movie choice.
  • Super 8 Loved it. Alien looked too much like all insect-ish aliens these days.
  • Sucker Punch Loved it.
  • The Debt Really good.
  • The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Loved it.
  • Horrible Bosses Loved it. Saw it at least 3 times.
  • Crazy, Stupid Love The first 90 minutes or so is a terrible amalgamation of tons of movie cliches. The last 20 minutes is decent.
  • Everything Must Go Good. Slow. Nothing remarkable.
  • Exporting Raymond Hated it. It’s a documentary about an American team trying to help a Russian team develop their own Everybody Loves Raymond. The chief conceit that the Americans believe is that this family dynamic is funny everywhere. I say let the Russians find funny what the Russians find funny. Don’t force American situation comedy on them.
  • The Beaver Good. Weird.
  • Battle: Los Angeles Meh.
  • Cowboys and Aliens Good fun.
  • Hanna LOVED. IT.
  • Bridesmaids Funny. That lady poops in the street.
  • Arthur Really terrible.
  • Just Go With It Somehow even worse than Arthur. Maybe. Real bad.
  • The Dilemma Not funny at all. But a pretty solid drama. Totally ridiculous that it was marketed as a comedy.
  • Hall Pass Actually pretty damn funny.
  • Water For Elephants -_-
  • The Fighter Good. You know.
  • Elektra Luxx Pretty not good.
  • Somewhere Moody in a good way. Directionless.
  • Cedar Rapids Not really funny.
  • Black Swan So that lead dancer was kinda nuts, right?
  • Contagion Icky. But good.
  • Country Strong Actually, I liked this pretty well.
  • The Social Network Good, you know. But I found it hard to care about anything in the film.
  • 2012 Like you know it’s going to be terrible. But this terrible? Really?
  • Morning Glory I enjoyed it.
  • How Do You Know Decent.
  • Going the Distance I can’t realy claim to have “seen” this movie since it was so bad, I turned it off after 40 minutes or so.
  • Our Idiot Brother It’s good but it’s another non-comedy billed as comedy. Man, Americans must hate drama for every quiet ensemble family drama to be billed “comedy.”
  • Young Adult Meh. I did like that it turns out to be a build-up to one punchline. But it’s a lot of sitting through a movie you’ve seen before just to get that twist.
  • Solitary Man Do not remember this much.
  • It’s Complicated Enjoyed it.
  • Crazy Heart Meh. I didn’t see what the fuss was about. This is a boring story with WAY too happy a wrap-up.
  • Middle Men Not good.
  • The Blind Side -_-
  • The Other Guys Actually, loved it.
  • Easy A Well. It was what I expected. Nothing notable.
