I saw The Hives at Belly Up back in April
It was like a religious experience. I meant to write about it at the time but I just didn’t. But here’s what I tweeted.
The Hives Roadies are dressed like ninjas.

Had an awesome and hilarious impromptu dinner with @daviddewese

I'm good with the man hug but I don't try to hug DD. He's 7 feet tall so I'd end up in his midsection somewhere.

I sometimes have this anxiety about shows. It's usually circumstantial. After long weeks at work, I didn't have the energy to be excited.

So DD and I parted and I went on to see the Hives. Alone, which is how I usually go to shows. And always have.

I put my earplugs in and as they expand, it's like slowly moving underwater. Sound slowly muffles.

And The Hives come out and tear the joint up. And then it's over. And I walk back to my truck alone.

But my chest is all filled up with satisfaction and gratitude and love. I guess I'd feel that from a significant other or a child.

But I get those feelings from my friends. And rock n roll.

I mention this because I’m seeing The Hives tomorrow night. I love rock ‘n’ roll.
