I went to the panel called “Graphic Sexual Content” with Ben Saunders and Howard Chaykin. It covered the origins of sex in comics, its meaning and depiction and Chaykin’s own work. I came away with a list of artists to investigate further. Chaykin was highly entertaining, droll and deadpan. I hate to say I wasn’t familiar with him but I recognized a couple of his books. I pretty much sat in awe of the two men on the dais intellectually tearing apart sex in comics. (Even as Chaykin worked to de-intellectualize it.)
