Ilsa, She-Wolf of my Heart
Though I can’t do an adequate job describing it now, writing this song went differently than most. I loved the title when I came up with it so I did a lot of woodshedding to get the feel of the song right. Usually, I get my ideas together pretty quickly and stick with my first lyrics, modifying them as I practice the song. But for Ilsa, I wrote a lot of drafts around the title lyric until I had it dialed in. I think it made it a really tight song.
Lyrics
You’re very tall
and that’s not really a turn-off but
it could be awkward if we went to a ball cause
in high heels, you tower over me.
You’d have to kneel, just to hear me speak.
Baby, we’re off to a rough start
but Ilsa, you’re the she-wolf of my heart.
You’re very blonde
and though I usually go for brunettes, it’s okay
cause you know me — I’m easy
I swing either way as
long as the carpet matches the drapes.
The only girls I hate are the fakes.
And baby, we’re off to a rough start,
but Ilsa, you’re the she-wolf of my heart
My Ilsa, it comes down to politics
cause you’re quite the fascist
while I’m an anti-facist.
And I will not submit
to your forceful ways.
I am the means of my production
even in these taxing days.
And Ilsa, I fear we’ve grown apart
but baby, you’re the she-wolf of my
baby you’re the she-wolf of my
baby you’re the she-wolf of
my heart.
